Board of Directors Positions - Job Descriptions

  • Shall facilitate at all meetings of the general membership and the B.O.D.  Shall personally represent the Boosters or appoint a delegate where representation is deemed advisable.
  • Shall effect compliance with the rules, regulations and policies of the Board of Education, the Gorham School Board and the Gorham Athletic Department.



Vice President:     Currently an OPEN POSITION


  • Shall have such powers and perform such duties as may be delegated to him/her by the President.
  • In the absence or disability of the President, he/she shall perform the duties and exercise the powers of the President.
  • Ensure that the Constitution and Bylaws are followed.
  • Assist with Fundraising & Communication duties.
  • Fundraising: (Shared duties of all Board members)
  • Shall coordinate fundraising activities necessary to successfully fund the Booster Organization.  For large scale projects a committee should be formed and chaired or co-chaired by Vice President.
  • Shall put together a fundraising calendar to be given to the principal in the spring for the following academic year and submitted by the Secretary.
  • Shall solicit and coordinate volunteers necessary with the assistance of the Team Liaison Director.



Team Liaison Director: (New Position)

  • Shall work with coaches for each sport season to recruit a parent volunteer to be a “Team Liaison” for each sport and to attend the Booster’s monthly meetings during their respective sport season.
  • Shall encourage “Team Liaisons” to be the spokesperson communicating to their team and the parents of the athletes, the work of the Boosters and the need for volunteers and their time to support fundraising and concessions.
  • Shall work with the Athletic Director on the procedures and requirements for the Coaches request for the Board of Directors.



Communications Director: (Shared duties of all Board members)


  • Shall provide updated information to general members of the Board and friendly reminders by either the President or the Secretary.
  • Shall update Facebook page and Website (when completed)
  • Shall provide notices for local papers; Gorham Times, American Journal.




  • Shall record the minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and distribute them within the week of when the meeting is held.
  • Shall maintain an annual membership list with appropriate job descriptions and contact information and share with all Board members.
  • Shall reserve the space and dates for the monthly Board meeting and other meetings as needed.
  • Shall be responsible for the updated Bylaws and Constitution and ensure that all Board Members have signed the documents.
  • Shall keep such other records as directed by the Board. Shall coordinate with the Treasurer for annual filing for Insurance Policy, State of Maine Annual Report for Non-profit organization and any other required documentation or contracts.
  • Shall sign with the President, or the Vice President, all contracts in the name of the club.





  • Shall keep the financial records of the club as well as “season end” reports and provide monthly reports for the Board meetings.
  • Shall be responsible for paying invoices and expenses and any reimbursements for items that have been approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Shall have custody of all funds and property of the club and maintain the Bank account, checking, debit or credit card accounts with the President as the other name on the account.
  • Shall maintain money bags for concessions to be given to Athletic Director or President.
  • Shall prepare and file tax returns and provide 1099’s for anyone paid over $600 by the Boosters for a service in the calendar year or will work with an accountant to complete the necessary paperwork.





  • Shall maintain inventory and ordering for concessions booth.
  • Shall work with Team Liaison Director to enlist volunteers to work during each sport season.
  • Shall keep records of all purchases made and provide receipts and invoices to Treasurer.
  • Shall keep records of volunteers for each event and sign in sheets to be completed.
  • Shall provide cash out sheets signed by 2 people for all money bags to be given to the Treasurer.
